Announcing the new KG Murray titles: World's Finest Comic Monthly, Tip Top Comic Monthly and Wonder Comic Monthly

This full-page in-house advertisement appears in Tip Top Comic Monthly #2 and promotes three new KG Murray titles launched c.May 1965:

World's Finest Comic Monthly, Tip Top Comic Monthly and Wonder Comic Monthly replaced the 100-page 'centurion' titles The Hundred Comic, Century Comic and Five-Score Comic Monthly. The 100-page issues had been a staple of the KG Murray lineup since 1956 and they endured until rising costs necessitated a reduction in the page count. Naturally, their once proud nomenclature had to be considered a boast from the past.

Other series such as All Star Adventure Comic, All Favourites Comic, Mighty Comic and Superman Supacomic, among others, also had their page counts reduced to 84 pages. and duly lost their "100 pages" spine long banner, however their titles, being immune to false advertising, persevered.

Superman Presents Wonder Comic Monthly #1

K.G. Murray's Wonder Comic Monthly #1 was published c.May 1965:

The cover image is modified from the original appearing on DC Comics' Tomahawk #96:

The main comics features:

The Ranger Killers Part 1, originally published in Tomahawk #96, January-February 1965
Part 2: The Rangers Die at Sunset!, originally published in Tomahawk #96, January-February 1965
Lois Lane, Gun-Moll!, originally published in Superman's Girl Friend, Lois Lane #28, October 1961
The Man with Three Eyes!, originally published in House of Mystery #25, April 1954
The Underwater Olympics!, originally published in Adventure Comics #277, October 1960
My Son, the Boy of Steel!, originally published in Adventure Comics #314, November 1963
Destination-Star, originally published in Mystery In Space #14, June-July 1953
The House of "Flashy" Traps!, originally published in Detective Comics #336, February 1965

Three Arrows Against Doom!, originally published in The Brave and the Bold #9, December 1956

Yaffa's Creatures on the Loose! #1 x 3

Page Publications' Creatures on the Loose! #1 was published c.March 1978:

This issue was recycled as Creatures on the Loose! #3 c.February 1980:

The only differences between the two issues are the issue number and price, which appear to have been superimposed on the #3 over the initial number and price of #1, and the indicia differs between the two. There is also a marked difference in the printing which affects the colours.

This issue was recycled as an unnumbered digest-sized edition retitled Creature Feature:

The recolouring uncovers some of the linework which was barely visible in the murk of the first two editions, but they still didn't manage to colour the clouds correctly. Compare to the cover of Marvel's Creatures on the Loose #12:

The contents of the Yaffa editions appear to be the main features in Marvel's Creatures on the Loose #'s 10, 11 and 12, some of which are reprints from previous Marvel issues and modified to some extent in this series.

His Other Self
Destroyed Soul

Many of these stories were reprinted in other Gredown issues - some in KG Murray titles too.

The stories hailing from Eerie Publications all appear to be reworkings of previous stories. See the GCD links for details.

I have not identified the original printings of the last two stories. Here's scans of the splash pages in case someone else recognises them:

His Other Self, script by S Dulcet, art by Cueyo Y Porredon

Destroyed Soul, story and art by Juan Boix

Update 14 July 2023 His Other Self originally appeared as Su otro yo in Dossier Negro #48 (1973)

Destroyed Soul originally appeared in Dossier Negro #26 (1971), and was later reprinted, under a different translation, as A Devastated Soul in Gredown's Vault of Fear (about 1982).

Thanks to Marcus Brazil for identifying these stories.

Romantic Story

Romantic Story is a one-shot romance comic published by Murray Publishers under their Murray Romance Library imprint:

The cover is a recoloured and slightly modified version of the cover by Frank Bolle originally appearing on the cover of Charlton Comics' Secrets of Young Brides #9:

All of the stories in this issue originally appeared in Charlton Comics as follows:

Love-In in London, originally published in Sweethearts #105, August 1969

A Visit to a Strange Place, originally published in Sweethearts #115, March 1971

Life of Lies, originally published in I Love You #117, April 1976

Too Many Kisses, originally published in Sweethearts #117, July 1971

The Wild One, originally published in Romantic Story #71, March 1964

Poor Little Me!, originally published in Teen-Age Love #73, November 1970

Never Trust a Sailor!, originally published in Sweethearts #123, March 1972

Tears in the Night!, originally published in Secrets of Young Brides #9, November 1976

You'll Love Him, Darling!, originally published in For Lovers Only #69, January 1973

Frolic for Four, originally published in Sweethearts #118, September 1971

Forbidden Ground, originally published in Secret Romance #41, November 1976

I Love You, Teacher!, originally published in Love and Romance #9, December 1972

My copy of this issue is a Second Release edition, and I think many if not all of these re-releases were dumped on the market c.August 1983 by Federal Comics. Federal may have plastered Second Release stickers on excess Murray stock, but I also think some of this stock was comprised of returns from newsagents. I have discussed this previously re: Carnival of Fear. This copy of Romantic Story is marked with a 10 on the rear cover by the newsagent. I'm assuming this mark relates to the initial publication of this issue, suggesting a publication date of July 1981.
