The Incredible Hulk #10: The Newton edition

Newton Comics' The Incredible Hulk #10 is cover-dated November 1975:

This image appeared on the cover of Marvel Super-Heroes #61:

Note this issue is cover-dated November 1976 - long after the Newton edition was published.  According to the GCD entry this cover was taken from an unaltered stat.

This is the original US cover from The Incredible Hulk #107:

The Newton and Marvel Super-Heroes #61 version of the cover was published before both of these issues on the cover of Marvel UK's The Mighty World of Marvel #55. I will address the connection between Newton Comics and Marvel UK in a separate post.

The story contents are as follows:

Ten Rings Hath... The Mandarin!, originally published in The Incredible Hulk #107, September 1968
When Wakes The Sleeper! [Part 2], originally published in Captain America #101, May 1968

Ten Rings Hath... The Mandarin! appears to be reprinted intact without undue editorial interference.

A few panels in this story have gray shading. This shading is replicated in the same panels in the Yaffa printing of this story in The Incredible Hulk #4 - apart from one. This may be due to the light printing as even the lettering is fading. I have compared the pages to an online scan of The Incredible Hulk #107 and I believe the gray shading is inherent in the original issue. (Interestingly, it is the Yaffa reprint which differs from the original - the last panel advises Continued Next Issue?, however the Yaffa edition omits the Next Issue? portion.)

When Wakes the Sleeper! continues from The Incredible Hulk #9. There are seven pages in this instalment. It is otherwise unmodified, apart from the opening panel. This is the panel concerned as it appears in my copy of Essential Captain America Vol. 1, Second Printing, August 2001:

This is the panel as it appears in the Newton edition:

As you can see, it has been modified with a series and story title and a Continued From Last Issue advisory, and in the circumstances this is quite justifiable, but one does wonder why the key image in the panel of the capsule wasn't centred in the modified panel.

This issue contains the following poster:

This image originally appeared on the cover of Marvel Comics' The Silver Surfer #4 and was shortly to be on the cover of Newton Comics' The Silver Surfer #4.

This issue includes an in-house ad for Newton Team-Up #1[A]:

This ad also appeared in the previous issue.

As per the previous two issues in this series this issue includes an ad for Origins of Marvel Comics and at-shirt offer on the rear cover.

The contest expiry date is 22 December 1975, two weeks after the expiry date of the contest in The Incredible Hulk #9. This suggests a publication date 8 November 1975.

This issue was advertised in-house:

The cover to this issue was also used as a poster:
